Class EJ: EYFS Learners

This week's learning is linked to the story, Oliver's Vegetables by Alison Bartlett and Vivian French.

Once again, your Maths will be linked to the 'White Rose Maths' materials. These are resources we use to supplement our learning in the classroom already, and also, over the remaining weeks of this term, the resources have been designed to address the expectations for this time of the year, in readiness for moving into Year 1.

Phonics learning will continue to be online games. The online games I refer to can be found on the Phonics Play website - a resource we use in the classroom. They are currently offering free access for parents, using the username: march20 and the password: home. If, however, you would prefer to keep using the English hub videos, then please use the links below.

English hub daily Phonics links

English hub videos for Reception learners (Phase 3)

English hub videos for Year 1 learners (Phase 5)

English hub videos for consolidating learning to blend (Phase 2)

As always, I have created the English resources and activities - linked to this week's text (see the overview of activities below). I have also added some additional activities, again linked to Oliver's Vegetables, which you may find useful for keeping busy in the afternoons. Finally, there are some additional printable activities, should you wish to use them.

Please remember to only go online with an adult at home. It is important to stay safe online (just like in the real world!) Remember there are useful tips available on the 'Think you know' website.

Suggested afternoon activities

Flashcards speed trial (Select Phase 3 and 5a)

Can you improve on last week?

English Activity 1 - watch and listen to the story (YouTube link)

Focus - Healthy eating...

Oliver enjoys a range of different vegetables in the story. Why not help an adult in the kitchen and make a tasty salad for tea? I wonder what delicious vegetables you will include? Remember to listen carefully to the adult's instructions - especially if you are chopping items with a knife!

Tuesday

'Supermovers' warm up -

Telling the time with the Cheerleader

Maths Activity 2

(select Day 2 online video or link to pdf of activities)

'Phonics Play' game -

Tricky words trucks (Select Phase 3 All HFW)

Can you improve on last week?

English Activity 2

Focus - Being creative...

Slugs and snails create different patterns as they slide along the ground (usually heading towards tasty vegetables to try and eat them!) Why not make your own snail/slug trail picture? You could 'take a pencil for a walk' on your page and then create patterns in the gaps (see the example below) or you could create a pattern using glue and glitter.

Wednesday

'Supermovers' warm up -

Counting with John Farnworth

Maths Activity 3

(select Day 3 online video or link to pdf of activities)

'Phonics Play' game -

Flashcards time challenge (Select Phase 3 and 5a)

Can you improve on last week?

English Activity 3

Focus - Being grateful...

This week, I would like you think of 5 things that you are grateful for. You could use the sheet provided if you wish. Alternatively, write your ideas as a list with pictures to illustrate.

I would love to hear your thoughtful ideas - remember, an adult at home can email me your work via our class email address.

Thursday

'Supermovers' warm up -

Telling the time with the Cheerleader

Maths Activity 4

(select Day 4 online video or link to pdf of activities)

'Phonics Play' game -

Make a Match game (Select Phase 4)

English Activity 4

Focus - Being active...

Alongside eating a balanced diet (with plenty of fruit and vegetables!) staying active is also important to keep fit and healthy. Under normal circumstances at this time of year, we would be getting ready for Sports Day at school. Why not set up your own Sports Day with your family, in your garden? Try to include a range of races and activities (for example the egg and spoon race or the skipping race.) You could also keep a record of the scores to determine the winner at the end!

Friday

'Supermovers' warm up -

Counting with John Farnworth

Maths Activity 5

(select Day 5 online video or link to pdf of activities)

'Phonics Play' game -

Reading Robot (Select Phase 4)

English Activity 5

Focus - Being creative...

Printing using fruit and vegetables is great fun. Ask an adult if you can use up some leftover items and enjoy printing using paint. You could try to create a repeated pattern.
