Year 1 Timetable

Session 1: Phonics Session 2: English Session 3: Maths Session 4: Science Session 5: PSHE Session 6: Additional Activities

Today we are looking at the alternative spellings for the phoneme /oi/.

1. Start by playing on Phonics Play - flashcards, choose phase 5

or

look at the document below to review the phase 5 phonemes.

2. Look at phonics sheet 1. Read the messages.  You can look at them on screen or print them.

3. Answer the questions on the second sheet.  You can use your own paper if you do not want to print them off.

Our first text this term is 'Hansel and Gretel' by Anthony Browne.

This week we are going to closely explore the text - following on from yesterday's work, today you will be performing your retelling.

You will need to watch the PowerPoint below (make sure you have the sound on).

Where you see this symbol on the PowerPoint, pause the video to consider and discuss the questions with a grown up at home.

Where you see this symbol on the PowerPoint, you need to pause the video and write down your ideas (either using the sheet provided or your own sheet of paper if you are unable to print).

1. Warm up your Maths brain with the BBC Supermovers - Counting with John Farnworth

2. Today we are recapping our learning from this week by playing a game!

Game instructions:

You will need: 1 die, small objects to help with sharing, question cards (cut up, mixed and sorted into separate colour piles) and game board.

How to play:

This game is for 2-4 players.

The player who rolls the highest number, starts.

Each player will roll the die, move the correct number of spaces and select a card based on the space.

Use the small objects to help with answering the questions. If you are correct, you get a point.

The overall winner is the player with the most points at the end.

As always, if you are unable to print the pieces, you could use the board on screen or draw a simple version out on paper.

Have fun!

This term we are continuing our work on living things and their habitats.

Do you remember what a habitat is?

Today we are learning about microhabitats ready for a practical investigation next week.

1. Look at the presentation. Pause it whenever you need to.

2. Sort the picture cards of the different minibeasts. You can choose the criteria for sorting.  Think about what is the same or different about the animals. Which ones do you want to put in a group together?

3. Explain to your grown up how you have sorted them.

This term we are thinking about the question 'What helps us to keep safe?'

1. Look through the video presentation with your grown up and talk about the pictures.

2. Pause the video when asked to sort the challenge cards.

If you do not want to print them out, look at them on screen with your grown-up and decide what you should do.

3. Return to the video to finish the presentation and think about what you have learnt today.

Read to your grown up.

If you haven't got a book, don't forget you can look on Oxford Owl.

10 minutes on Numbots.  Have you moved up a level?
