Year 1 Timetable

Session 1: Phonics Session 2: English Session 3: Maths Session 4:  Session 5: Additional Activities

Start with a game on Phonics Play

Try a speed trial - all Phase 3 and 5.

Today we are thinking about the /oi/ phoneme.

Look at the phoneme spotter and highlight or underline all the words with this week's sound.

Remember saying the words out loud can really help.

Our first text this term is 'Hansel and Gretel' by Anthony Browne.

This week we are going to closely explore the text - today's lesson focuses on engaging with a text and making predictions.

You will need to watch the PowerPoint below (make sure you have the sound on).

Where you see this symbol on the PowerPoint, pause the video to consider and discuss the questions with a grown up at home.

Where you see this symbol on the PowerPoint, you need to pause the video and write down your ideas (either using the sheet provided or your own sheet of paper if you are unable to print).

1. Warm up your Maths brain with the BBC Supermovers - Number bonds with Martin Dougan

2. This week we are moving onto division - sharing (or grouping) an amount into equal amounts (or groups). Start by watching the short introduction to division video on BBC Bitesize.

3. Work through the PowerPoint below - make sure you pause after each question slide to give yourself chance to answer  (the answer slides follow each time).

3. Choose a set of question cards to complete - there is a 1 or 3 star challenge available. You will need some small objects to group (for example buttons or Lego pieces) - there is a photograph at the end of today's PowerPoint showing you how to set out your work.

The grouping sheet could be printed and popped into a plastic wallet so that you can wipe it clean each time you have made the equal groups.

Remember, if you are unable to print the questions cards, you can read them from the screen and group objects accordingly.

This term in History, we are going to be learning about the life and times of Queen Elizabeth I.

Today's lesson focus is thinking about what a monarch is. Start by watching this short CBBC Newsround clip about our current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Then, work through the PowerPoint below. Remember to pause the video to consider the questions posed.

There is also an information sheet below to read through with a grown up at home.

Once you have worked through the PowerPoint and read the information sheet, there is a 1 or 2 star challenge to complete - matching facts to the correct monarch.

There are activities set in MyMaths this week for everyone to complete.

Log in details for those of you who have not yet tried MyMaths are at the back of your planners.

The work is set to be completed by the end of the week.

Read to your grown up.

Complete the reading activity.

Year 2 Timetable

Session 1: Spelling Session 2: English Session 3: Maths Session 4: Session 5: Additional Activities

Read this week's spellings and have your first practice.

This week we are thinking about how we can learn to spell our common exception words.  Work through the sheet, or look at it online and use your own paper.

This week, think about which of the strategies helps you learn your spellings.

1. Warm up with BBC Supermovers.  We have the seven different signs of calculations song today.  Look carefully, this week we are going to be using the division sign in our maths work.

2. Watch the video. Today we are starting by looking at making equal groups - sharing. It will be helpful if you have some practical resources to help you this week too.  You can use any small objects such as bricks, buttons or pasta.

3. Complete the worksheet, or write the answers on your own paper.

4. The additional sheets can be used to practice or for a challenge if you are confident with this activity.
