Mrs Gordon and Mrs Leggate
Welcome to Class 2GL’s class page. We are an enthusiastic and hardworking group of Year 2 and 3 children who love to learn new things and improve on our current learning!
Our class teachers are Mrs Gordon and Mrs Leggate. Mrs Evans helps us with our English and Maths learning on Mondays and Tuesdays. Mrs Webb will be working as a 1:1 in our classroom.
General Information
Reading:
Children are able to change their reading books on a Monday,Wednesday and Friday. If you are a free reader the school library is open on Friday mornings for you to change your reading books.
In our planners, we write the name of the book we are reading and note down the page numbers we have read and ask an adult from home to sign the relevant part. Mrs Leggate will collect our reading diaries on a Monday morning to check they have been signed. The school expectation is for reading diaries to be signed at least 3 times a week.
Homework:
We get 2 pieces of homework a week, one Maths and one English. English homework needs to be handed in on a Monday and will be returned on a Wednesday. Maths homework should be complete using My Maths.
Spellings:
Yr 3
Spellings for each week are in our planners. Each week we should practise at home 4 times and there is space for this in our planners. However, if spellings are completed in another manner (iPads, notebooks etc.) our parents indicate how many times we have done this and we ask them to ensure that they sign the spelling page in our planner.
Yr 2
Each week we should practise at home 4 times and there is space for this on the sheet. Each spelling should be used in a sentence below.
Spelling tests will take place on a Friday.
PE:
We need to come to school in our PE kits on a Thursday and a Friday. If we are wearing earrings, we need to ensure that we are able to remove them for PE or ask our parents/carers to provide tape for them to be covered up to meet health and safety recommendations. If we have hair below our shoulders, it should be tied back for PE. Swimming will be on a Thursday.
Staying healthy:
It is important that we bring a water bottle to school every day, filled with fresh water. In addition, we are allowed to bring a healthy snack for break time if we wish. These snacks should meet the agreed list: fruit, vegetables, cheese or yoghurt.
Please ensure children are dropped off between 8:40-8:50. Year 2's are to enter through the door on the back KS1 playground and Year 3's are to come through the KS2 front playground door. All children to be collected at 3:20 from the link corridor door. (near Mrs Jackson's Classroom)
