WELCOME TO CLASS 1LM.
Welcome to our new school year! Mrs Leggate and Mrs Major are thoroughly enjoying teaching Class 1 LM already - we are having lots of fun! Mrs Major is working on a Monday, Tuesday and Mrs Leggate is working on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday. The teaching assistant in our classroom is Mrs Webb.

We will be linking our learning to the Stone Age in Term 1.
BITS AND BOBS.
PE in 1LM will be on a Thursday. Please make sure that PE kits are in school all term with appropriate clothes for the weather. Please note that due to inclement weather, PE days may change sometimes and so it is important to have PE kits in school at all times.
Spelling folders and Homework folders should be handed in on a Wednesday and they will be returned on a Friday.
We have a weekly spelling test this will be on a Wednesday.
We ask that children read at least three times a week and have it signed in their reading records. Reading is so important for a child so we ask that you listen to, and read with, your child as often as possible.
Book change days will be on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
We will be going to the library once a month so we ask that if there are any parents who could help with this visit, by walking to the library and back, please could you give your names to Mrs Major or Mrs Leggate. Many thanks.
Please make sure that water bottles are in school every day. Drinking water really helps keep our brains active and alert. It needs to be clearly named and brought back to school every day.
Term 2- Asia
This term we will be linking our learning with Asia. In geography, we will be researching our chosen country India and its culture. Later in the term, we will be thinking about the Christmas story and making items to sell at the Christmas Fair.
We have really enjoyed learning about India. We have tasted Lentil Dahl which some of us liked and some of us were not so keen on!!!!! Mrs Abey has been into school and showed us how to put on a Sari. She has taught us some dance moves and also helped us to make Chappatis.
Term 3- Ancient Egypt
Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely Christmas break. Thank you for all your cards and gifts.
This term we are travelling back in time to Ancient Egypt to discover what life was like at that time.
We know that children often become very interested in our class topic. So, if your child is keen to find out more and does any writing or drawing at home we would love them to bring it into school to share with us. We have an area in the classroom to display things that the children bring from home.
Please can we remind you that every child needs a water bottle in school everyday and our P.E. day is Thursday.
Term 4 - Academie d'Art de Woodhall Spa.
This term we are going to learn about Claude Monet. We will learn about his life and look at some of his beautiful paintings.
We are going to use the impressionism style to recreate our own works of art and use colour to inspire us to write some poetry.
Term 5 All Aboard
This term we will be learning about transport. We will look at how transport has changed and what types of transport we have now. We will carry out some surveys into how we come to school and what vehicles are on the roads around Woodhall Spa.
For science we are going to find out about our senses and use them to investigate the world around us.

Term 6 - Walking on Sunshine
This term we will be looking at stories which are connected to the sun and thinking about the natural world. We will be looking at the plants around us, planting some sunflower seeds and thinking about how we can help to make the planet a better place.
Please could you ensure that P.E. kits are in school on a Monday and stay in school for the week, as we need to practice for Sports Day and this could be anytime when the weather is fine.
Please could we remind you that every child needs a water bottle in school everyday and all items of clothing should be named.
We have thoroughly enjoyed teaching the children and look forward to spending the final few weeks with them. May we take this opportunity to thank you for your support this year.
