World Book Day 2021

## Have a look at the masked Reader Quiz - Just for Fun!

Year 1 Timetable

Session 1: Phonics Session 2: English Session 3: Maths Session 4: Watch the presentation below. Can you say all the phonemes for each grapheme? Today we are looking at different spellings for the phoneme /s/. Read the words and then add the sound buttons. Then write the words into the phoneme frames. Remember it is one sound in one box. What do you think is the best bet for spelling the /s/ phoneme. Today is World Book Day.    This year in KS1 our theme is adventure.   Please watch the video of the story 'The Pirates Next Door' and enjoy! This week we are going to return to measurement - specifically looking at measuring length and height.   Today's lesson focus is solving problems involving length by adding.   1. Warm up your Maths brain with the BBC Supermovers - The 2 Times Table with Bridget the Lioness!   2. Work through the video below. Remember to pause the video when prompted and discuss your thinking with a grown up at home.   3. Complete the worksheet attached. Remember you can use objects, such as cubes or Lego pieces to help with the addition calculations.   If you are unable to print the worksheet, work through the problems on screen and write down your answers on your own sheet of paper. Remember you can use objects, such as cubes or Lego pieces to help with the addition calculations. Enjoy World Book Day!   Today is all about sharing stories and enjoying books.   Take some time to share some books together.    Perhaps there is an old favourite on the shelf that you love to hear or maybe  a member of your family has a favourite children's book they would like to share with you.   On the sheet below there are ideas to celebrate books today too.   Enjoy!

Year 2 Timetable

Session 1: Spelling Session 2: English Session 3: Maths Session 4: Today we are looking at the 'have a go' strategy to help us with our spelling.  When we come to a word we are not sure of, we could write it on a separate piece of paper to try it our a few times.  Which spelling do we think looks right? We choose one to add to our writing.  We can come back to check it when we edit later.    Look at the sheet and try the 'have a go' strategy for the missing words.
