Today we are continuing with our work on non-fiction texts. In today's session, you will be focusing on the features of non-fiction texts. This  means you will be looking closely at a non-fiction text and thinking about the different pages it has which you wouldn't find in a fiction (or story) book.

Start by working through the PowerPoint below. Try to remember what each feature is called.

Then, using the worksheet provided, cut out the different features and stick them onto the table and label (there is a word bank provided so take care with your spellings).

If you have any non-fiction books at home (or by looking on Oxford Owl) why not see if you can find all of the different features you have learnt about today?

Moving onto addition and subtraction with numbers to 20.

1. Warm up your Maths brain with the BBC Supermovers warm up - the 2 times table with Bridget the Lioness

2. Work through the PowerPoint below - make sure you pause after each question slide to give yourself chance to answer  (the answer slides follow each time).

3. Choose a worksheet to complete - there is a 1, 2 or 3 star challenge available.

4. Then use the grid on the sheet below or make one like this.

First Then Now

Use the practical addition cards to practice.  Add buttons, small bricks or objects to make your representations and write the addition sentences.

As always, if you are unable to print the sheet provided, work through the questions on screen and record on your own paper.

Today we are continuing to explore the Arctic and

we are  finding out about the weather.

Please pause the video when it asks you to think,

pair share and when you want to look closely at the

pictures.  There is information to read too.

Don't forget to share your answers with your grown up.

When you have looked at all the information, you may

choose the 1 star or 2 star sheet to complete to show

what you have learned.

If you do not want to print out the sheets, you could draw

on a piece of paper.  You need to draw two pictures.  One

to show the weather in the Arctic summer and another to

show the weather in the Arctic winter.

Write a sentence underneath about something you found out about these seasons.

10 minutes reading to your grown up.

Draw a picture showing your favourite part of the book you are reading, or some information you have found out.

Work through the video - don't forget you can pause it at any time and use your tens frame or the number line to do it yourself to help you understand.

There is a challenge sheet available if you would like to try when you have completed the first worksheet.
