Returning to school story

Still image for this video
This short video may be a useful resource to watch and discuss with your child, today or at some point over the next few days, as we approach our return to school on Monday. We are all so excited about seeing the children back in the classroom together and can't wait to welcome them back next week. Thank you for your continued support and kind words during the last few weeks - it really is appreciated by all of the staff. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday morning.
Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 Session 4

Additional activities

1. Use relevant video below -

watch either Mrs Jackson's Group or Miss Cook's Group

2. Complete today's activity - Mrs Jackson's group:

Play this Phonics Bloom game - 'Alien Escape' Phase 4.

There is no need to sign up/login to access this resource.

Miss Cook's group:

Today's additional task is a 'phoneme spotter' story. You need to read the story carefully, looking for today's alternative pronunciation of the digraph 'ow'. If you print the story, you could underline or highlight each time you spot today's digraph, or if you are reading the story on screen, you could write down all of the words you spot.

This week we are going to return to measurement - specifically looking at measuring length and height.

Today's lesson focus is measuring the length of an object using standard units.

1. Warm up your Maths brain with the BBC Supermovers - The 10 Times Table with Webster the Spider!

2. Work through the first short video below - introducing the ruler. Remember to pause the video when prompted and discuss your thinking with a grown up at home.

3. Work through the second video below. Remember to pause the video when prompted and discuss your thinking with a grown up at home.

4. Complete the worksheet attached.

If you are unable to print the worksheet, use a ruler or measuring tape to measure objects around your house.

This week we are continuing with our work on the text, 'Hansel and Gretel' by Anthony Browne.

This week we are going to focus on writing our retelling of the story - today's lesson focuses on the next stage of the editing process by looking at your punctuation and spelling choices.

As with last week, you will need to watch the PowerPoint below (make sure you have the sound on).

Where you see this symbol on the PowerPoint, pause the video to consider and discuss the questions with a grown up at home.

Where you see this symbol on the PowerPoint, you need to pause the video and write down your ideas.

Once again, as today is an editing session, there is not a new sheet to write on.

This term's focus in PE is running and jumping. (When we are all back in school together, we will move onto using the large apparatus in the hall).

Today's lesson is about changing routes (or pathways) as we move.

Work through the activities on the PowerPoint below.
