Covid-19 related absence:

Year 1 learners - If you are currently isolating at home, and are feeling well enough, please use the activities on this page to continue your learning - it is closely aligned to the work you would be completing in the classroom.

Monday

1. Watch and complete the tasks within today's video for your Phonics group.

2. Complete today's Education City game.

Number formation and counting recap:

Complete the counting sheets found below. Take care when you count and think carefully about how you are forming each numeral.

Grammar focus - naming and ordering letters:

Use the BBC Bitesize link and work through the videos and activities. As an extra challenge, you could look through a book or magazine at home and find different lowercase and uppercase (capital) letters. Write a list of the letters you have found and matched.

Creative:

In school, we have made a calendar for the new year - we used cotton buds to create simple representations in paint of each of the four seasons. You could use the tree template below or a design of your own choice. We have spare calendar tabs in school which you can collect and add to your design when you return after isolating.

Tuesday

Numbers to 20 recap:

Work through the sheets below. You will need to count in 1s from 1 to 20, filling in the missing numbers for each sequence. Again, take care with your formation.

Grammar focus - rhyming words:

Use the BBC Bitesize link and work through the videos and activities. 

As an extra challenge, you could read a rhyming story and make a list of the rhyming pairs that the author has used (tip: many of your favourite Julia Donaldson's stories rhyme!)

Creative:

There is a set of instructions below that you could follow to make a handprint wreath. You could hang it on your front door or in your bedroom. You might also like to make some other handprint Christmas pictures.

2D shape recap:

Complete the 2D shape sheets below. As an extra challenge, can you describe how many of each 2D shape you have used? 

Grammar focus - counting syllables:

Use the BBC Bitesize link and work through the videos and activities. As an extra challenge, you could write a list of the names of the people in your house and label how many syllables there are in each.

PE:

Remember, it is important to keep active, especially as you are having to stay at home at the moment.

Repeated patterns recap:

Complete the repeated pattern sheets below. As an extra challenge, you could use some Christmas decorations at home to make your own repeated patterns. Can you describe your pattern to a grown up at home?

1. Spelling test - as it is the last day of term, please ask an adult at home to test you on this week's spellings - hopefully you have practised each day. Afterwards, ask an adult to email your scores to our class email address.

 

Handwriting focus:

1. Warm up your muscles with this fun BBC Supermovers Song.

2. Complete the handwriting sheet- remember to refer to the letter formation guide.

Christmas film!

In school today, we have watched a recording of a Christmas pantomime (recorded Winter 2019). As a treat, why not snuggle up on the sofa and watch a Christmas film? You might even enjoy some treats (it is nearly Christmas after all!) Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
