Mrs Leeson and Mrs Evans
Welcome to 1EL class webpage!
1EL ia a class of enthusiastic children who are keen to learn. We are taught on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays by Mrs Leeson. On Thursdays, we are taught by Mrs Evans. Miss Hornsey helps to support our leanring every morning in class and she takes small groups out every afternoon for additional support. Mrs Bone also helps us every afternoon.
Please send a filled water bottle with your child every day. Please may we ask that they contain plain water only. We will refill them with water as needed during the day and send them home with your child to be washed and refilled at the end of each day.
All the children will be given a reading book. We usually change our reading books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please sign your child's planner when you have heard them read at home so that we can clearly see when they are ready to change their book. We ask that children read at least three times a week and that children's reading books and planners are in school every day. Planners will be checked each week on Mondays.
We will be giving out Maths and English homework each week. Homework will be given out on a Fridays for collection on Wednesdays. The homework usually follows on from work we have been completing in class.
The children will have spellings to learn each week. These are given out on Mondays to be collected in on Friday mornings ready for their test. Each word should be practised 4 times in the spaces provided, then used in a sentence in the space below.
It is helpful if your child's belongings are named, including their water bottles and coats. We do try to ensure your child returns home with all their belongings and your help with this is much appreciated.
PE - Our PE day is Thursday. All children are to come dressed in their PE kits on this day.
We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning with our enthusiastic class of Year 1 children. If you do have any questions, please do ask.
Mrs Leeson and Mrs Ruddock were planning to hold a reading workshop to help parents and carers in supporting their child in developing their reading skills. Unfortunately, owing to current circumstances, they were unable to hold the workshop. We have attached the slides below and if you require any further help/support please contact your child’s class teacher.
