Middle leaders, the ‘engine room of the school’, are heads of specific Key Stages and Departments. They lead teams of teachers and implement whole-school strategy into outstanding classroom practice on a daily basis. They drive consistent teacher quality in their areas of responsibility through curriculum and pastoral leadership, lesson observations, holding staff to account and mentoring teachers. They also ensure consistency across the school by: collaborating and challenging their fellow middle leaders in other areas, influencing whole school behaviours, sharing, coaching and mentoring
